GBTA applauds the TSA PRE Program’s expansion for international travel

GBTA has long supported TSA PRE, Global Entry, and other risk-based, intelligence-driven trusted traveler programs that benefit busy business travelers.

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the voice of the global business travel industry, applauds the decision by the Transportation Security Administration to expand expedited screening benefits for international travel through the TSA PRE. The decision expands the current TSA PRE program allowing its participants to be eligible for expedited screening on certain international trips. Those eligible, flying Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways, will be allowed to keep their shoes, belts and outerwear on, as well as keep their laptops in their cases and their compliant liquids in their carry-on luggage.

“Today’s TSA PRE announcement is another milestone. The international expansion ensures secure, efficient travel for thousands of business travelers going to face-to-face meetings around the globe to meet with their customers and partners. Everyday U.S. companies and their employees compete in the global marketplace. TSA is to be commended for its commitment to expand risk-based, intelligence-driven security initiatives,” said GBTA Executive Director and COO, Michael W. McCormick.

The program also includes the ability for passengers flying internationally from one of the 40 participating TSA Pre airports to be eligible to receive expedited screening. Also, after clearing Customs, arriving international passengers enrolled in TSA PRE can use those lanes for connecting domestic flights.

GBTA has long supported TSA PRE, Global Entry, and other risk-based, intelligence-driven trusted traveler programs that benefit busy business travelers. While ensuring security on every level, these programs make travel more efficient and reduce travel time. As the global marketplace becomes even more integrated, business travel will significantly increase if government authorities continue to take steps to ease travel burdens while ensuring security.
