IAEE welcomes new board members

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) announced the results of this year’s election to its Board of Directors. During the keynote luncheon at Expo! Expo! IAEE’s Annual Meeting & Exhibition, 2007 Chairman Jeff Price passed the gavel to incoming Chairman Randy Bauler, CEM, corporate relations & exhibits director for the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, who will serve through 2008.

 

With the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) since 1996, Bauler’s diverse experience includes serving as exhibits & sponsorships director for NTI & Critical Care Exposition; and meetings & exhibits director for InnoVision Communications. Prior to joining AACN, Bauler worked as sponsorships & development manager for The Woodworking Shows with Devine Marketing Group; and group manager and show manager for the Southern California Home & Garden Show. As association division director/group show manager for Marketing/Association Services, he served as executive director of four national/regional associations at same time, as well as publisher of Western Association News.

A member of IAEE since 1988, Bauler earned the "Certified in Exhibition Management" (CEM) designation in 2001 and was elected to IAEE’s Board of Directors in 2004. He served as the then IAEM Southwest Chapter Chairman in 2001 and served on the Chapter’s board 1997-2002, and again in 2005. In the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association, he represents AACN as an affiliate member and is active in Habitat for Humanity of Orange County. Previous affiliations include ASAE, SCSAE, AzSAE and MPI.

"I am honored to serve as IAEE’s 2008 Chairman, and to represent the dynamic organizations and talented professionals in the exhibition and events industry. Our industry has an amazing success story to tell, and I pledge my best efforts to spread that story and to build on the strong foundation created during the past 80 years by many dedicated industry leaders," stated Bauler.

New members of the 24-person IAEE Board of Directors are: David Boon, deputy director for the Brussels Exhibition Centre in Belgium; JoAnne Kelleway, CEO of Info Salons International Pty Ltd in Australia; Bob Kelley, CEM, CMM, senior vice president of business development for Meeting Consultants Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia; Jim Kelley, director of sales for ICAT Logistics in Elkridge, Maryland; and Jason McGraw, senior vice president of expositions for INFOCOMM International in Fairfax, Virginia.

Other members of the IAEE Board of Directors are: Chairman-Elect Margaret Pederson, president, Exhibitions for Penton Media in Stamford, Connecticut; Secretary/Treasurer Chris Meyer, CEM, CMP, vice president of convention center sales for the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority in Las Vegas, Nevada; Immediate Past Chairman Jeff Price, executive vice president of Freeman in Dallas, Texas; Jack Buttine, president of John Buttine Exhibition Insurance in New York; Brian Casey, CEM, president of High Point Market Authority in High Point, North Carolina; Jonathan "Skip" Cox, president of Exhibit Surveys, Inc. in Red Bank, New Jersey; Jennifer Hoff, CEM, COO for National Trade Productions Inc. in Alexandria, Virginia; Robert Kolinek, CEM, CMP, president/CEO for Helen Brett Enterprises Inc. in Lisle, Illinois; Michael Lynn, CEM, CME, CMM, CMP, CPC, director of MarComm, Exhibitions, Events & Protocol for L-3 Communications in Greenville, Texas; Pat Phillips, executive director/vice president for IDG World Expo in Fairfax, Virginia; Vincent Polito, senior vice president for Reed Exhibitions in Norwalk, Connecticut; Joe Popolo, president of Freeman in Dallas, Texas; and Jeffrey Quade, executive vice president of sales & marketing for GES Exposition Services in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The IAEE Board also includes ex-officio members Michael Cooke, CEO for dmg world media in Larkspur, California representing the Exhibition Industry Foundation (EIF); Paul Schweitzer, vice president, Business Development of dmg world media in Williamsville, New York representing the IAEE Public Events Council; Julie Smith, CEM, vice president of sales for GES Exposition Services in Hyattsville, Maryland representing IAEE Services, Inc.; Nancy Hasselback, president & CEO of Diversified Business Communications in Portland, Maine representing the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR); and Rebecca Lyons, director of Sales & Operations for National Conference Services in Columbia, Maryland representing the IAEE Robert L. Krakoff Future Leaders Institute, sponsored by ICAT Expo.

Members of IAEE’s Board of Directors are elected on an annual basis by the official voting member of each IAEE member company. All officers serve a term of one year, except the Secretary-Treasurer who holds office for two years. The directors are divided into three classes, as nearly equal in number as possible, each to serve three years in staggered terms to ensure continuity in the governance of the association.
