Meeting Professionals International (MPI) announces its 2006-2007 International Board of Directors, European Council, international committee chairs, chapter presidents and MPI Foundation Board of Trustees. Mark S. Andrew, CMP, CHA, and David G. Gabri, will lead MPI and its Foundation as MPI continues its pursuit of transforming the meetings profession through MPI Member Solutions, A Suite of Products and the various components developed to elevate the meeting professional and establish a career path for current and future members of the industry.

Mark S. Andrew, CMP, CHA, will take over as the 2006-2007 chairman of the board from Christine Duffy. Andrew helped lead MPI for a three month period after the association’s president and CEO, Colin Rorrie, Jr., PhD, CAE, resigned at the end of March 2006. Andrew aims to continue the work from previous leaders in the fields of execution, influence and elevation and strives to make MPI an even more member-centric, internationally-focused organization. He also will be integrally involved with the continued development and new product roll-out of MPI Member Solutions, A Suite of Products, the global meetings industry’s first initiative to define meetings management as a recognized, respected profession and create personalized career paths for meeting professionals through the industry’s first standardized job descriptions, skills and core competencies. He will ensure that MPI Member Solutions is an integral part of the chapters’ operations as well as the members’ professional lives.

Andrew’s relationships with senior decision-making executives throughout his 13 years of membership in MPI, in addition to his roles on various boards at both the chapter and international levels, will continue MPI’s pursuit of becoming more internationally focused. The role of the International Board of Directors is to study, debate and make decisions on issues that are in alignment with the direction of MPI`s strategic plan and the future of the meetings industry.

David G. Gabri, President and CEO of Association Luxury Hotels in Washington, D.C., will serve as the 2006-2007 chairman of the MPI Foundation Board of Trustees. The Trustees oversee the fundraising efforts of the MPI Foundation, comprised of contributions from MPI chapters, individuals and organizations which are invested in high-impact programs to support MPI’s strategic plan, Pathways to Excellence, which drives education, business development opportunities and clearly defined career pathways for meeting professionals.

Effective July 1, these volunteer leaders, including the European Council and incoming chapter presidents, assume responsibility for enhancing MPI`s growth, executing the strategic plan, providing a return on investment for members, and elevating the meetings industry to a higher and more strategic level.
