Meeting Professionals International’s (MPI) International Board of Directors selected Houston, Texas as the host city for the 2008 Professional Education Conference-North America (PEC-NA), to be held Feb. 3-5. The decision was voted on by MPI’s International Board of Directors at its Saturday, July 8 meeting in Dallas.



The selection process involved deep due diligence that includes a Request for Proposal (RFP) submission/bid; a comprehensive checklist using the Convention Industry Council’s APEX initiatives; site inspections, as needed; a comparison of available dates against other industry shows and major religious or government holidays; and a business analysis.



MPI’s Professional Education Conference-North America delivers an unparalleled growth experience for meeting professionals seeking stimulating professional and business development among friends and colleagues. Motivational and educational sessions, including tracks on more focused skills for the various divisions of membership, are offered for all knowledge levels in key business categories, including meetings management, return on investment, technology, business skills development and more. Inspiring Personal Power Keynotes are conducted by business and life issues experts, and the popular Give & Take Roundtables address hot topics relevant in the meetings industry .

MPI strives to vary the locale of the Professional Education Conference-North America to enable our attendees to experience the cultures and environments of different geographical regions. Recent conferences included the 2006 PEC-NA in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the 2005 PEC-NA in San Diego. We are very excited about our upcoming 2007 PEC-NA in New Orleans and now the addition of Houston to the roster in 2008.”



This fall, MPI will send out an RFP call for cities to host future Professional Education Conferences in North America and Europe and the World Education Congress .



This year the Meeting Professionals International`s 2006 World Education Congress was the Largest MPI event ever as the total registered reached over 3,600. 40% were planners and 60% Suppliers.



The 2006 World Education Congress in Dallas is now the largest event in MPI’s history, beating the former record holder, the July 2001 World Education Congress in Las Vegas which had 3,461 attendees. The 2005 World Education Congress in Miami had 3,417 attendees.



Countries represented: 28 including Argentina, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Dominican Republic, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Panama, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom and United States.
