NBTA convention continues pace for record-breaking year

The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) announced that the number of travel managers registered for its 37th Annual Convention and Trade Show

The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) announced that the number of travel managers registered for its 37th Annual Convention and Trade Show, to be held August 14-17 at the San Diego Convention Center, has already exceeded 1,000. Corporate and government travel managers from around the world, who control billions of dollars in travel expenditures each year, will take part in the premier professional education opportunities offered in travel management, including more than 50 seminars, a Technology Pavilion, and intensive pre-Convention education, expanding their knowledge of how to provide their organizations the best value in travel.

In another milestone for the event, a record-breaking 405 exhibitors have reserved booths in the Trade Show to showcase new products and services and to build relationships with travel managers from around the world. Last week NBTA announced it had surpassed 100,000 square feet of booth space for the first time in the history of the Convention.

NBTA President and CEO Carol A. Devine, CCTE, commented, The 2005 NBTA Convention and Trade Show is certainly on track to being the biggest and best event in the Association`s history. We have passed the mark of 1,000 travel managers registered earlier than in previous years, and we have more than 400 companies exhibiting, ensuring the best possible networking opportunities.

At the Convention, travel managers will have their schedules packed full of sessions and events aimed at educating attendees on a variety of topics and facilitating dialogue between travel managers and suppliers. NBTA is offering more than 50 educational sessions in topical tracks including Sourcing/Procurement, Going Global, Technology Tools, Industry Hot Topics, Business Strategy and Negotiations, and Strategic Meetings Management. Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend pre-Convention courses in three professional development programs offered by NBTA and its foundation: the Fundamentals of Business Travel Management, the Certified Corporate Travel Executive (CCTE) and the Global Leadership Program.

Devine remarked, Between the many education sessions focusing on the business travel industry`s most prominent issues and exciting keynote speeches given by Tom Ridge, the first Secretary of Homeland Security; Sir John Major, former Prime Minister of Great Britain; and Deborah Norville, host of Inside Edition, travel managers will leave the event with valuable information to help them more efficiently manage their companies` travel programs.
