The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) Groups & Meetings Committee released the latest paper in the Framework for Success: Strategic Meetings Management Programs series. Leveraging Group and Transient Spend with Hotel Suppliers was issued at the corporate travel industry`s premier event, the NBTA 2006 International Convention & Exposition, in order to help NBTA members drive efficiencies and savings for their companies.

The paper provides historical industry perspective, examines current market trends, outlines key similarities and differences between transient business travel and group expenditures, and provides strategies for leveraging group and transient hotel expenditures.

Co-Chair of the NBTA Groups & Meetings Committee, Kari Knoll Kesler, who also serves as Global Manager – Honeywell Meeting Solutions, Honeywell International, Inc., said, In today`s market, many companies are searching for new ways to drive value in their hotel programs. One key strategy for accomplishing that goal is bringing both transient and group spend to the table in discussions with hotel partners. Implemented as part of a strategic meetings management program, the combination of group and individual business travel programs can add significant savings and value.

Another paper in the series will be provided to NBTA members within the next month. Critical Meeting Components: Ground Transportation will give travel managers a fundamental understanding of chauffeured transportation and car rental services related to groups and meetings. The Critical Meeting Components papers, published by the committee as part of the Framework for Success series, provide NBTA members an understanding of the key tactical elements of a strategic meetings management program.

Committee co-chair, Joni Miyashiro, who also serves as Travel Manager, Amgen Inc., said, When the NBTA Groups & Meetings Committee began the groundbreaking work of creating a comprehensive set of resources on strategic meetings management programs, one of our goals was to get down to the nuts-and-bolts. We`re pleased that we will be able to expand the Framework for Success series with another `Components` paper, this time offering NBTA members information on working with ground transportation providers as part of their meetings management efforts.

With the addition of these latest papers, the Framework for Success series will include the following resources:
