The National Tour Association continues to expand its membership base in 2003, welcoming 56 new members in May and June, including three new international affiliates.

New members joining NTA this spring include 47 suppliers, two domestic DMOs, four tour operators and three international affiliates: the Greek National Tourist Organization, Italian Government Tourist Board and the Austrian Tourist Office. The total international membership with NTA now stands at 26 companies.

NTA hosted an international member recruitment reception in New York City in May, where we welcomed 13 guests from international tourist offices, and three of those joined thus far, said NTA President Hank Phillips, CTP.

This type of recruitment rate means great things ahead for our current membership, and is an indication of our commitment to offering more business opportunities for NTA members.

We have joined NTA with the intentions of developing new relations with select tour operators, exchanging ideas to develop new products & increase traffic to Italy by creating new business opportunities to the American travel industry to help our destination become more popular than ever,
said Eugenio Magnani, director of North America, Italian Government Tourist Board.

The National Tour Association is an organization of nearly 4,000 tourism professionals representing the packaged travel industry, which had a direct economic impact of $166 billion worldwide in 2001. NTA provides unsurpassed business opportunities, knowledge and information to businesses involved in tour operator packaged travel. NTA also serves as a consumer advocate through it code of ethics, stringent membership requirements and education.
