The PATA Foundation is a charitable foundation dedicated to assisting community-based tourism projects throughout Asia Pacific. Eligible projects are those that sustain or rehabilitate the environment or cultural heritage of an area, and which have a potentially positive impact on tourism. A project may also seek to educate local stakeholders and tourists about sustainability issues.
For 20 years, the PATA Foundation has disbursed donated funds to projects in more than 40 countries. JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa Public Relations Director Ms Lee Sutton said: PATA Foundation grants have made a difference in environmental protection, culture and heritage conservation and education and training. These are clearly very important aspects in the sustainable growth and development of travel and tourism in our region.
