Hospitality Financial & Technology Professionals (HFTP) announced that it is now accepting applications for new and future technologies (including prototypes) for its GUESTROOM 2010 model guestroom. GUESTROOM 2010 will be part of a 90 x 40 foot pavilion featuring some of the latest and near-future technologies for the modern hotel room.
Included alongside GUESTROOM 2010 in the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC) exhibit hall will be displays of concepts that are attempting to be integrated into the hospitality industry, as well as some glimpses of technology yet to come.
Our goal is that Guestroom 2010 will be an important reference for the industry and we plan to include non-traditional types of technology including lighting, fabrics and furniture, as well as more traditional technology like new generation televisions, phones, and maybe even robots, said Frank Wolfe, CAE, HFTP executive vice president and CEO. We are conducting a global search, and are counting on industry experts to help us identify and display the consummate collection of new technologies to come.
Hospitality technology suppliers, consumer technology companies, inventors and others who have a technology product that should be considered for display in this pavilion can apply. HFTP has assembled an independent panel that will review applications and select the products to be included in both GUESTROOM 2010 and its accompanying technology pavilion.
Guestroom 2010 will be a futuristic model demonstrating the numerous concepts that circulate at HITEC, viewed by HITEC attendees – the industry`s major players. said Jules Sieburgh, CHTP, HFTP`s International Secretary and senior vice president of information technology at Atlantis, Paradise Island in the Bahamas.
HITEC 2006, in its 34th year, is the world`s oldest and largest hospitality technology exposition and conference. This year`s event will be held June 19-22 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. The GUESTROOM 2010 pavilion will be accompanied by more than 650 exhibits from some of the best hospitality technology companies in business today offering products from WiFi to kiosks, property management systems to handheld point-of-sale, and integration software to hotel safes.
HITEC also offers an exceptional education conference with presentations from experts representing all segments of the industry. The Opening General Session will feature two keynote speakers, Leonard Fischer, multimedia editor for Gannett News Service and professional speaker Connie Podesta, MS, CSP, LPC. In his presentation, Fischer, who edits and designs interactive special reports for Gannett`s 90+ web sites and USATODAY.com, will focus on consumer mobility trends and how they affect the hospitality industry. Podesta will address the challenges of dealing with difficult people at work.
The HITEC 2006 Advisory Council, made up of some of the world`s top hospitality technology experts, strives to provide a program that offers the latest information on new opportunities and challenges in hospitality technology, said Carol Campbell Beggs, vice president of technology for Sonesta International Hotels Corp. and the HITEC 2006 chair.
