At the closing ceremonies of the International Air Transport Association’s Annual General Meeting (IATA AGM) in Paris, Robert A. Milton, Chairman, President & CEO of ACE Aviation Holdings, and Chairman of IATA’s Board of Governors for 2005-06 announced that Vancouver had been chosen as the host city for the 63rd IATA AGM and World Air Transport Summit in 2007.

“As host airline, we look forward to welcoming the world’s air transportation leaders to Vancouver for the 2007 IATA AGM and World Air Transport Summit,” said Mr. Milton. “Vancouver’s spectacular natural environment, world class, multi-cultural hospitality as well as its global air transportation access all converged to make it our preferred location to showcase Canada to the world’s air transportation leaders.”

Vancouver is a major hub for Air Canada’s North American network and is the airline’s primary gateway to and from Asia. Together with Star Alliance partners Lufthansa, United Airlines and Singapore Airlines, Air Canada’s Vancouver hub offers 1,240 flights to 43 destinations across North America, Asia and Europe.

Vancouver is recognized as one of the world`s premier meeting and convention destinations, and a top delegate draw according to Rick Antonson, president and CEO of Tourism Vancouver. We are honoured to have the IATA AGM and World Air Transport Summit choose our city and are confident that our service edge commitment – to deliver the best combination of customer sales, service and destination value anywhere in the world – will result in a wonderfully successful event.

The 63rd IATA AGM and World Air Transport Summit will be held in Vancouver June 3 to June 5, 2007, marking the first time this distinguished event will be held in Vancouver. Past host cities include Paris, Tokyo, London, Madrid, Rio, Montreal, Singapore, Washington, DC, Geneva, Sydney, among others.
