China Southern Airlines is pleased to announce that has now surpassed RMB 2 Billion ($241 Million US) in annual Internet ticket sales.

“And 2004 isn’t over!” boasted Mr. Li Kun, Vice President, China Southern Airlines, adding more than $240 Million (US) in sales, isn’t bad for the first airline in China to sell an Internet e-ticket less than five years ago … and the sales just keep adding up almost as fast as we can count them. We have set a goal to reach RMB3 Billion by the end of this year.”

China Southern Airlines is currently only e-ticketing on its Chinese web site.

Mr. Li noted some of the recent accomplishments of China Southern Airlines’ e-ticketing include major airport e-ticket check-in counters throughout China, including the airline completely renovated and “like-new terminal at Beijing’s Capitol Airport.”

China Southern has also launched an all-new online hotel reservation system service which is designed to combine air ticket booking functions … and “will be China Southern’s new secret weapon to compete in the aviation e-ticketing marketplace,” said Mr. Li.

He added that, “the system is available to complete information inquiries and live reservation operations and currentlly offers reservations for more than 2,100 hotels in more than 200 major cities throughout China.”
