Hundreds of employees were nominated for the Najm Chairman’s Award from across the 60,000 strong Emirates Group.
DUBAI, U.A.E. – Exceptional efforts in areas such as safety, health and customer care have been rewarded by the Emirates Group in the annual Najm Chairman’s Awards.
Held at the company’s headquarters opposite the new Concourse A at Dubai International, a total of 18 staff received special recognition from His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group.
The winners of the coveted Najm Chairman’s Awards were selected from an impressive pool of candidates who first went through a nomination and evaluation process with heads of department before a final vote by senior management. Today, stories were shared on a big screen in the atrium of the group’s headquarters and watched by hundreds of Emirates’ staff, family and friends.
“Every day across our vast network, staff from different cultures and nationalities come together to deliver the products and services of the Emirates Group. For many, going the extra mile is part of a normal day and what our customers have grown to expect. But there are occasions when employees have taken dedication, innovation and vision to a higher level and for this they are recognised with the Najm Chairman’s Awards,” said Sheikh Ahmed.
The winning submissions included assisting a passenger who was having a cardiac arrest at Seoul Airport, recovering thousands of aircraft parts from redundant stock and streamlining the spraying of aircraft interiors in line with health requirements.

Each of the eleven winners received a gold plated trophy, a framed certificate and cash award, all personally presented to them by Sheikh Ahmed.
The winners of this year’s Najm award were from several different departments across Emirates and included; Amrit Chakravorty, Ju Yeon Yoon, Kum Hee Choi, Na Rae Seo, Amal Rhouatte, Ji Yeoun Paik, Paulo Roberto Hoffmann De Almeida, Johnny Chung Hua Chao, Hasan Mir, David John Stobie, Shajee Rafi, Thomas Alwyn Jones, Manish Gupta, Subramaniam Ramchandra Kumar, Venkataraman Sanker and Natalie Alicia, Oscar De Alwis and Akhter Nasreen.
