Surinam Airways, the national airline of Suriname, has chozen Worldspan, L.P. for a five-year hosting partnership. In addition to hosting the airline`s operations at Worldspan`s global data center, Worldspan will also provide Surinam Airways with Worldspan Meridian(SM) technologies, sophisticated systems to manage the airline`s mission critical daily operations, including reservation and inventory management, flight operations, airport passenger processing, electronic ticketing, global fares and pricing requirements, and more.

Surinam Airways is one of eight commercial carriers in various world markets to recently choose Worldspan for hosting and related IT solutions. As Worldspan Participating Carriers, Surinam Airways and other carriers hosted in Worldspan also rely on the Worldspan global distribution system (GDS) to distribute their flights, fares, booking and electronic ticketing capabilities to worldwide points of sale.

From its hub at Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport, Surinam Airways offers regional and international scheduled service to Amsterdam; the Caribbean destinations of Aruba, Curacao, the Netherlands Antilles, Port Of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago; Belem, Brazil; and seasonally to Miami.

Surinam Airways needed a new and more powerful technology alternative to meet the demands on our airline in an increasingly competitive environment. We pursued a hosting opportunity with Worldspan because their solutions are market leaders, and because Worldspan`s people have a reputation among airlines as excellent service providers, said Clyde Cairo, vice president – Commercial Affairs for Surinam Airways. Worldspan`s flexibility in responding to our operational, distribution and implementation timeline requirements was immediately evident.

Worldspan is extremely pleased to welcome Surinam Airways as a new airline hosting partner, furthering our expansion into South America, Latin America and the Caribbean. We continue to raise the bar in airline hosting and related technologies, ensuring Surinam Airways and all carriers hosted by Worldspan continue to operate using the most advanced and relevant solutions available to airlines, said Kevin Ficco, vice president – Airline Distribution and Business Development for Worldspan.
