Tiger Airways announces network changes to optimise flight schedule from Avalon

As part of a recent network review, Tiger Airways will shortly make some changes to its flight schedule in order to optimise its Australian network. This is common practice among all airlines and is based on a number of factors including demand, seasonal variations and changing market conditions.

Subsequently Tiger Airways Australia will shortly be moving one Avalon based aircraft to fly from Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine). Thereafter three routes that the airline currently flies from Avalon Airport (Avalon to Brisbane, Avalon to Adelaide and Avalon to the Gold Coast) will be served from Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine).

Any passengers who have already booked their flights and will be affected by these changes will be offered free of charge re-accommodation onto alternate route services via Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine). Other options for affected passengers include a full refund, credit to fly at another time and a free of charge transfer to another Tiger flight of their choice.

Tiger Airways will continue to fly the most popular routes to and from Avalon Airport and the airline is enhancing its Avalon schedule to provide better timed Perth services and additional Sydney services (up to three daily flights) to cater for growing demand.

“Put very simply, the changes reflect a combination of market demand, normal aviation business practice and commercial reality: a strong return fuels future growth,” said Crawford Rix, Tiger Airways Australia CEO.

He added “Meeting consumer demand and flying the most popular and profitable routes is the basic formula for any successful low cost airline and the success of Tiger Airways is good for the consumer – not only did airfares fall dramatically at the same time Tiger Airways entered Australia in November 2007, on the routes we fly, we’ve brought airfares down by around 30% on those routes,” he says.
