Birmingham’s newest hotel opens its doors

A new 224-bedroom Holiday Inn Express opened in the heart of Birmingham city centre.

The contemporary hotel is situated in the Snow Hill district and features stylish bedrooms and state-of-the-art meeting and event space. Its location near to the train station and on a key transport route makes it ideal for commuters and tourists travelling in to the city. Holiday Inn Express – Birmingham Snow-Hill is the perfect destination for guests on the go, who need a place to rest and recharge so that they can get to where they are going. It offers no fuss but gives guests exactly what they need from a hotel stay – great beds, convenient location and free breakfast.

The hotel, which is operated by hotel management company Interstate Hotels & Resorts, offers a selection of king, family and twin bedrooms, all of which offer free Wi-Fi and complimentary breakfast. Further facilities include LCD TV’s, air-con, en-suite bathrooms and coffee and tea making facilities.

The £23m transformation of Kennedy Tower into Holiday Inn Express follows a government-backed Business Premises Renovation Allowance (BPRA) scheme funded by Downing Corporate Finance.

Andrea Whigham, general manager of Holiday Inn Express Birmingham Snow-Hill, said: “We’re delighted to be up and running and welcoming our first guests. The hotel is in a prime location in the heart of the Colmore Row commercial district. It is easily accessible from all major transport routes which make it the perfect place for business and leisure guests. We offer affordable and stylish accommodation with little extras such as complimentary breakfast and WIFI. Guests looking for the comfort and quality of a trusted global brand, where they pay for what they need but nothing they don’t, can find this at the Holiday Inn Express – Birmingham city centre.”

Nick Taplin, senior vice president of Interstate Hotels & Resorts UK, said: “There has been major investment to transform the 19-storey building, formerly Kennedy Tower, into a hotel. We are delighted with the result and believe the business will thrive in Birmingham’s strong hotel market.”
