The tide is turning for Egypt<.>`s Red Sea Riviera, as Europeans rediscover the region`s attractions as a leisure playground giving access to some of the prime diving spots of the world.

A trio of Holiday Inn<.> resort hotels are playing their part in rebuilding confidence in the region, which was hit hard by negative perceptions about safety in light of Middle East and world events of the previous few months.

Holidaymakers, diving enthusiasts, as well as conference and incentive organisers, are again being lured by the Red Sea`s mix of sun, sand, surf, and a wide choice of historical sites and outdoor pursuits, from snorkeling and scuba diving to desert safaris and horse riding.

German guests staying recently at the Holiday Inn Resort Safaga Palace enthused about its facilities, service, and convenient location. The resort is just 30 minutes from Hurghada Airport – which receives charter flights, and is just a 50-minute flight from Cairo – while the ancient settlement of Luxor is just a two-and-a-half hour drive away.

Hotelier, Martin Zugman from Bonn, enjoying a three-week visit with his wife, Thea, said: We made good use of the beaches, and even formed a birdwatching group of guests for Crocodile Island. We felt safe and welcome at all times, and will be back next winter, maybe with friends from Germany and The Netherlands.

Event manager and artist`s agent, Daniel Kottnauer, from Essen, stayed two weeks with his girlfriend, and said: We had no fear of coming to Egypt and went diving, experienced a Jeep safari and look forward to coming back for a trip on the Nile.

Stephan Bucheim, a first time visitor to Egypt from Berlin, spent five days just resting at the Holiday Inn Resort Safaga Palace. He said: It`s a wonderful country with friendly people.

Surrounded by white sand beaches, with magnificent coral reefs, the Holiday Inn Resort Safaga Palace is a paradise for experienced and novice divers, windsurfers and other water sport enthusiasts. It offers a health club with sauna, whirlpool and steambath, while diners can chose from a number of restaurants and casual eateries catering for many palates. Children have an Ice Cream Boulevard, as well as a Kids Fun Club providing supervised entertainment and minding.

With 327 guest rooms and suites, the resort is an ideal venue for small and large conferences and incentive visits. It has a range of meeting facilities, specially tailored Conference Network meeting programmes, and a fully-equipped business centre. Along with its two sister hotels, the Holiday Inn Resort Sharm El Sheikh, and the Holiday Inn Resort Amphoras Sharm El Sheikh which opened last September, it presents visitors with an impressive Red Sea choice,

These are among seven Egyptian properties managed by Six Continents Hotels now offering attractive winter packages until the end of March. Special fares on Egypt Air`s in-bound flights are available from travel agents, and the other participating hotels are the Pyramids Park Inter-Continental Resort, close to the Giza Pyramid and The Sphinx, the Semiramis Inter-Continental Hotel, on the banks of the River Nile in Cairo, as well as the Hurghada Inter-Continental Resort & Casino and the Crowne Plaza Resort Sharm El Sheikh.
