Thomas Schmelter has been appointed resident manager of the Jeddah Inter-Continental<.> Hotel. Schmelter has worked with Inter-Continental and Crowne Plaza hotels in Germany and the UK for the last 11 years, and most recently in Turkey as resident manager of the Crowne Plaza Istanbul. He holds degrees from Washington State University and the Hotel Management School in Tegensee, Germany.

The 350-room Jeddah Inter-Continental Hotel has a prime location on the corniche overlooking the Red Sea, near the airport and business, financial and shopping districts.

The hotel is one of twenty-seven Inter-Continental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn properties, including ten palaces, managed by Bass Hotels & Resorts in Saudi Arabia.
