Luxury Spanish Hotel implements the next level in health and safety systems

Luxury Spanish hotel, Son Net in Puig Punyent, Mallorca, is deploying Check Safety First’s E-Cristal hygiene, health and safety risk management audit system to gain an even greater level of control and ensure consistent high-end standards.

The hotel will be using E-Cristal’s food safety module to standardise, manage and improve levels of cuisine health and safety. Prior to signing with Check Safety First, Son Net had no way of recording the data collected from internal kitchen checks and as such as no due diligence protection.

“Food hygiene is the most dynamic area of risk for us and one that requires a lot of control,” explains Guido O. Van de Waal, general manager at Son Net. “The practice that we had in place for checking kitchen hygiene was not bad or incorrect, the problem was that it was heavily paper based, wasn’t backed up and provided us with no real risk assessment. E-Cristal will help me to achieve the necessary improvements at a minimum cost. For me, that’s a great return on investment.”

Van de Waal continues: “By getting the safety and quality of the cuisine right, I can be sure that all my guests are taken care of. Due to the high-calibre of visitors that we have at Son Net, this is something that can’t be taken for granted.”

Steve Tate, chairman at Check Safety First, adds: “It is easy to take for granted that hi-spec, luxury hotels means that there is a stringent hygiene system in place. This is just not the case. It is great to see that Son Net is setting the example to other luxurious hotels by publicly demonstrating its commitment to food hygiene.”
