GenaRes Worldwide Reservation ServicesSM Ltd., announced a new independent hotel client: the Hotel Beacon, located in New York City’s Upper West Side. The Hotel Beacon began using GenaRes’ central reservation system (CRS) and GenaRes’ voice reservation services in late January of this year.

GenaRes completed the Beacon Hotel’s implementation in a record three days. “Due to some contractual issues with our previous CRS provider, we needed an emergency system ‘cutover’,” The Beacon Hotel’s General Manager Tom Travers explained. “GenaRes came through with flying colors. They understood our desperate situation and reacted immediately. We had absolutely no down-time.” GenaRes completed the cutover from the UniRez CRS on January 19, 2006.

As a result of the cutover, GenaRes is now providing the Beacon Hotel with all of its global distribution system (GDS) and Internet distribution. The Beacon is using the GenaRes CRS to manage all of its reservations, and relies on the GenaRes call center in Grapevine, Texas, for after-hours voice reservations coverage.

With a healthy ADR (average daily room rate), the Beacon attracts primarily leisure and international business. “As a result of our switch to GenaRes, we believe our overall reservations processing expenses will be reduced and expect to see a substantial increase in revenues generated through the GDS,” Travers said. “The GenaRes CRS’s inventory software has given us the opportunity to implement a last-minute special rates program, which not only increased our ADR by 9 percent, but added substantial room revenue in slower time slots during this year’s first quarter.”

Services that GenaRes is providing the Hotel Beacon includes:

  • Full use of the GenaRes Web-based CRS with inventory management across all distribution channels

  • XML interface for two-way interface connections

  • Next-generation seamless connectivity to all GDSs

  • Revenue management

  • Internet distribution to thousands of Web sites

  • Online training

  • Rate and availability channel management

  • After-hours voice reservations

  • Representation on the GDSs via the chain code GZ

  • Ongoing customization as needed

“We are proud to add another New York independent hotel to our customer base,” commented GenaRes’ President Eugene Harris. “While many of our competitors are not interested in signing individual independent hotels, we are more than happy to service hotels like the Beacon and help them grow.”
