Morukuru Family’s AtholPlace House & Villa to relaunch as a five-star boutique hotel

AtholPlace House & Villa

Morukuru Family relaunches AtholPlace as a boutique hotel due to demand, offering luxury stays and exclusive villa options in Sandton, enhancing their hospitality commitment.

JOHANNESBURG – Morukuru Family announces the transformation of their Sandton property, AtholPlace House & Villa into AtholPlace Hotel & Villa, marking a new chapter in their commitment to hospitality excellence.

Due to popular demand for per-room bookings, AtholPlace House & Villa will be relaunched as AtholPlace Hotel & Villa on 1 August 2024. The property was originally a boutique hotel, prior to July 2020, but has since been offered on an exclusive-use basis. Its central location in Athol, Sandton, however, lends itself to a variety of travellers beyond the exclusive-use market, from international visitors needing a stopover or enroute to a safari to corporate guests and those seeking a luxurious urban retreat.

“With world-class shopping, dining, and the Gautrain Station within close proximity, it made sense to revert to a boutique hotel,” explains Morukuru Family co-owner Ed Zeeman. “Guests now have the choice to stay in the nine-room AtholPlace Hotel, or if they prefer an exclusive-use stay, they can still opt for our four-bedroom AtholPlace Villa.” He explains that hotel refurbishments will take place between 16 June – 31 July and from 1 August 2024, three room types will be available:

  • Four interleading Deluxe Rooms in the annexe building, each boasting views of the garden and pool.
  • One King Room on the first floor of the main building, which can accommodate up to two adults and one child under 16 sharing.
  • Four Superior Suites on the first floor of the main building, with views of the garden and pool. Each of the Superior Suites can accommodate up to two adults and one child under 16 sharing.

Facilities at the boutique hotel include a bar and library, a lounge area, a small fitness room, and a peaceful garden with a temperature-controlled pool. Limited secure off-street parking is available for guests’ convenience. While there is no on-site restaurant, an all-day menu of comfort food options, including soups, pastas, salads, and sweet treats will be available, as well as room service.

“We are thrilled to embark on this exciting transformation and look forward to welcoming guests to our new AtholPlace Hotel,” says co-owner Anka Zeeman. “As always, we arededicated to world-class service and ensuring a stay that exceeds expectations.”
