The Award, presented during the ceremony at the MITT fair in Moscow end of last month, is based on a survey conducted by Travel Trade Gazette (TTG) Russia, an industry trade publication and IT- International Travel Exhibition Company. Over 120,000 tour operators and agencies in CIS countries were asked to award scores to their favourite companies in 13 nominations and a number of categories, such as best airline and best domestic hotel. As a result, nearly 1000 qualified readers in Russia submitted their votes for the Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts as the Best International Hotel Group. British Airways was voted Best
International Airline.
Recognition of the hotel group Radisson SAS in Europe has grown faster than any other major hotel chain, according to a report just published by the London-based research agency BDRC. The group reached a total Pan European prompted recall of 31%, a rise of 25% from 1993.
Earlier this year the hotel chain received several prestigious first prizes in Scandinavia, including Best Hotel Chain in Sweden (Grand Business Travel Award 2000, Sweden), Best Hotel Chain in the Nordic countries (Bennett BTI Nordic Award 2000, Sweden) and Best International Hotel Chain (Grand Travel Award 2001, Sweden).
On the 1st of February the first class hotel company opened three hotels in one day – in Tallinn in Estonia, Klaipeda in Lithuania, and Espoo in Finland. Future openings include the first-class 166-room Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in the heart of historical St. Petersburg.
