After an extensive tender process, the Zurich Airport Management Company Unique has chosen Radisson SAS<.> Hotels & Resorts to manage the future Airport hotel, scheduled to open in 2005.

Situated right behind the airport complex, the 350-room hotel will be the first in Switzerland to have a direct, covered link to the terminals and easy access to both the railway and planned tram station.

The first-class, full service Radisson SAS hotel will be designed to respond to the needs of the frequent and increasingly demanding business traveller, as well as appealing to leisure guests. Facilities will include a brasserie, a seafood restaurant, a bar and over 2000 square meters of conference and banquet space, offering state-of-the-art technology. There will also be a wellness area including fitness centre and sauna.

Kurt Ritter, President & CEO for Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts, comments: We are excited and honoured to have been chosen by Unique to manage the future Zurich Airport hotel. Having successfully managed the Radisson SAS Hotel in Basel for some years now, we are proud to be able to bring our unique services to Zurich soon.

Josef Felder, CEO of Unique, comments: Radisson SAS is one of Europe`s fastest growing hotel chains and is rapidly becoming one of the most attractive brands for frequent business travellers. Amongst its 130 properties, the group manages 15 airport hotels, including the award-winning property in Manchester, UK, and we are confident that they will provide our guests with the best possible service in this important location.

By the end of 2004, transit passengers will be able to stay at a 30-room hotel, also located within the airport terminal and to be managed by Radisson SAS.

Unique has recently launched a competition, asking national and international architects to present a design for the future complex, including the Radisson SAS hotel, an office complex, restaurants and maybe a casino. The winning project will be announced this Autumn.
