On June 27th C&N<.> Touristic AG became Thomas Cook<.>. Linked to the change of name will also be the introduction of a new corporate identity that combines the `holiday colours` of C&N -reminiscent of the sea and the sun- and the world-famous brand name of Thomas Cook that has stood for quality travel for the past 160 years. These are the two key ingredients that went into creating what is a fresh and contemporary look for the new public face of Thomas Cook AG.

`We have combined the well-known C&N colours with the world famous name Thomas Cook in the new brand identity. Our new name and our new innovative corporate identity is a signal of our vision to become a single international business that is the ultimate expert in leisure travel`, explains Stefan Pichler, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the new Thomas Cook AG. `This new identity symbolises a new start for our business. A business that has a very successful future ahead of it`.

The new Thomas Cook AG logo was developed by the London design agence FutureBrand: a globe in the group colours of blue and yellow that contains the slightly modified Thomas Cook signature. It symbolises the `world` of the new Thomas Cook AG – an efficient, pan-European and fully integrated leisure group. The launch of the new name and the new corporate identity started to be rolled out from June 27th, taking into consideration the national requirements of the individual markets.

The new logo will be featured on all the company`s tour operating brochures in order to demonstrate their membership of the Thomas Cook AG group – starting with the winter brochures 2001/2002.

In addition, the C&N-owned Neckermann and Alpha travel agencies in Germany will also renamed. The start of the travel agency refurbishment programme is scheduled for the end to July. In the UK and the Netherlands the group`s wholly-owned travel agencies will also be given the new corporate identyty.

It is planned that the C&N service counters at German airports will adopt the new Thomas Cook identity be the end of the fiscal year (31 October 2001). The combined aircraft fleet will also display the new logo in the future, alongside that of their own brand names and logos (e.g. Condor, JMC). It is anticipated that by the end of this calendar year, the entire implementation programme for the group`s German operations will be completed.

A full communications programme around the introduction of the new brand has been fully implemented throughout the group`s international network.

The `Stars` for the Thomas Cook AG customers will of course continue to be the well-know national tour operator brands, such as Neckermann Reisen, JMC Holidays and Pegase, as well as the group`s airline brands of Condor and JMC in their respective markets. Each of the national tour operator and airline brands already enjoy a very high customer awareness and will be retained and developed in their own right.
