The service is operated using Airbus A340s, the most modern aircraft in Iberia`s fleet, which can complete the journey in less than 12 hours.
Iberia has been operating flights to Lima since 16th April 1963 and has enjoyed a close relationship with Peru ever since. The increased frequency of flights comes in response to a growth in passenger traffic on this route which rose by 20.1% between 1999 and 2000. Furthermore, the service between Peru and Spain is one of the ten most important cargo routes for Iberia and the volume of goods transported during the same period also rose by almost 20%.
The new flight to Lima has been introduced as part of Iberia`s company strategy which aims to achieve a 10% increase in traffic between Europe and Latin America this year with the objective of reinforcing the company`s leading position in this market.
