The Rezidor Hotel Group has signed a new partnership with The CarbonNeutral Company, the world’s leading carbon offset and climate consulting business. This new partnership will offer all guests staying at a Rezidor Hotel the opportunity to offset greenhouse gas emissions caused by their travels and hotel stay, thus making their entire trip CarbonNeutral.
According to the comapny, To take advantage of this new program and help combat global warming, guests can join Rezidor’s free loyalty program, Goldpoints Plussm, and allocate a portion of their points towards offsetting greenhouse gas emissions. The Goldpoints Plus program is open to all hotel guests staying at a Rezidor hotel, and members can decide whether to participate and how many points they would like to allocate to the program. This initiative is part of Rezidor’s Responsible Business program, and will be officially launched on March 1, 2007.
As part of the new partnership, The CarbonNeutral Company has measured the amount of greenhouse gases produced from Rezidor’s operations, including fuel, energy consumption and waste. The carbon dioxide output from all Rezidor operations will be offset by donating money to emission reducing projects which save the equivalent amount of carbon dioxide. Projects Rezidor is currently participating in include a wind power project in India, energy efficiency projects in Jamaica and methane capturing projects in the U.S.
