Royal Sonesta Boston completes hotel renovation

Fresh new lobby, coffee shop, lounge and event space are infused with local inspiration.

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – The Royal Sonesta Boston has announced the completion of its recent renovation, which includes a redesign of 200 guest rooms; a brand new lobby featuring two new outlets, Studio (coffee shop), and Motif (lobby cocktail lounge); new waterfront meeting and event space with a terrace on the Charles River; a renovated fitness center; and an updated parking garage.

“Our location, views, food, and service have long been a favorite of business and leisure guests alike,” said Michael Medeiros, the hotel’s General Manager. “We are thrilled to introduce our beautifully reimagined hotel to guests and encourage them to experience our new Longfellow room meeting and event space and two new lobby dining options. This is a very exciting time and we look forward to providing an elevated experience for guests visiting the Boston/Cambridge area.”

Studio, the new resident coffee shop, is a perfect place to grab your favorite specialty coffee drink, house-made pastry or even a deli sandwich for lunch. The cafe serves PJ’s Coffee – from the southern coffee roaster based in New Orleans – along with breakfast, lunch, and snacks, all conveniently packaged to take on your way to the airport, office, or for a leisurely picnic on the Charles River.

Motif is a new contemporary lounge and meeting place located in the lobby, ideal for meeting up with friends and colleagues and enjoying cocktails before dinner. Motif features full bar service and creative cocktails made on our custom martini cart, along with small plates that are perfect for sharing.

The Longfellow Suites offer waterfront views from 2,100 square feet of new indoor and outdoor event space with its own Charles River-facing terrace, and is ideal for meeting and social events. The hotel also recently introduced the 3,000 square foot Riverside Terrace, which has become one of Boston’s premier outdoor venues for weddings, lunches and receptions – accommodating up to 250 guests with views of the Charles River and Boston city skyline.

“The contemporary design and modern feel to the new lobby and guest rooms really focuses on bringing the river and skyline center stage,” said Mark Sherwin, Executive Vice President Operations for Sonesta. “The hotel’s prime location on the banks of the Charles River provides unobstructed views from every angle and reinforces the brand’s commitment to offer guests a sense of place, not just a place to stay.”
