Scone Palace: 1,500 years of history comes alive online

New Scone Palace website incorporates an online shop enabling enthusiasts all over the world to browse and buy exclusive high quality gifts including fine malt whiskies and bespoke hampers.

Scone Palace has launched a brand new website that brings 1,500 years of history into the 21st century by allowing visitors to pre-purchase tickets for the Palace, its grounds and selected events online for the very first time.

The site also incorporates an online shop enabling enthusiasts all over the world to browse and buy exclusive high quality gifts including fine malt whiskies and bespoke hampers featuring some of the Palace’s favourite Scottish produce, all sourced from local and independent producers.

In addition the site features a host of information for country sports enthusiasts, including details of shooting and stalking opportunities on Mansfield Estates. Anglers can also access real time availability for fishing on the renowned Fishponds and Waulkmill beats, which offer some of the finest salmon and game fishing in Scotland.

Designed by Edinburgh agency ‘Heehaw’, the site aims to provide one-stop, online information about all aspects of Scone Palace and Mansfield Estates

Elspeth Bruce, Palace Administrator, said: “The development of the new site is in response to feedback which demonstrates that today’s visitors want to access information and make bookings  in lots of different ways, including through mobile devices.

“The site is designed with visitor needs very much in mind and will provide inspiration and ideas to whet the appetite for a visit. The online shop will make it easy for people to beat the queues by pre-purchasing tickets for entry to the Palace and grounds, and to reserve seats for some of the hottest tickets in our events calendar. Once they return home, visitors can then purchase a special memento of their trip, quickly and easily at the click of a button!

“Exclusive items on offer include jams, marmalades, chutneys and honey from Scone Estates’ own label and best-selling books on Scottish history, including ‘Scotland’s Stone of Destiny’ by Nick Aitchison, which explores the myths surrounding the infamous Stone of Scone.

“As energy prices continue to rise, locals may also be interested in our range of wood fuels including seasoned logs, firelighters and kindling, locally-sourced from the Estate, which can be ordered online and delivered free to addresses within a 10 mile radius of Scone”.

Elspeth added: “Scone Palace welcomes over 100,000 visitors of all ages every year. More and more of them are looking for information online and on the move. This new website brings Scone’s 1,500 years of history bang up to date for the 21st century”.
