Egypt seeks to diversify tourism markets

Tourism Minister Ahmed Maghrabi said last week Egypt seeks to diversify its tourism markets and pay more attention to markets expected to develop during the coming years.



The minister said India is among the markets expected to develop during the coming years, adding that his visit to India aimed at collecting information on this market.



Maghrabi, who took part in the ceremony held by the Indian Industries Federation in New Delhi on Wednesday to promote for Egyptian tourism, said the ministry has already prepared a programme to lure Indian tourists, adding that his visit comes as part of this programme.



He said he expects that this ceremony will help increase the number of Indian tourists coming to Egypt.



Chief of the Egyptian-Indian Business Council Amin Abaza said the two-day meetings with the Indian side focussed on increasing trade exchange and briefing each side on the investment opportunities available in Egypt and India.



Egypt`s trade councellor in New Delhi Dr. Yehia Eid said the coming period will witness a rise on the Indian investments in Egypt expected at $ 600 million against the current $ 380 million.
