Alaska Airlines begins nonstop service between San Diego and Orlando, Fla.

The flights will be operated on Boeing 737-800 aircraft, accommodating 16 passengers in first class and 141 in the main cabin.

SEATTLE – Alaska Airlines launched nonstop service between Orlando, Fla., and San Diego. The carrier will fly between the two cities five times a week.

“We’re thrilled to launch our fourth new market in San Diego this year alone,” said Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing. “Alaska’s new flight is well-timed to not only serve our San Diego customers but also to provide convenient connections for customers between Orlando and Honolulu.”

“Until now, San Diego had been our largest underserved domestic market. But thanks to Alaska Airlines and today’s inaugural flight, we now have a direct link connecting this vital market to our world-class attractions and emerging medical industry,” said Phil Brown, executive director of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority.

The flights will be operated on Boeing 737-800 aircraft, accommodating 16 passengers in first class and 141 in the main cabin. All flights will offer Alaska’s Northern Bites meal service, which provides passengers in the main cabin with a hot meal for $6 or a cheese and fruit platter for $7. The flights also offer Alaska’s inflight entertainment system, a handheld video-on-demand device featuring more than 70 hit movies, along with television programs and other entertainment. The inflight entertainment players are complimentary in first class and available for $10 in the main cabin.

Alaska Airlines, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group, together with its partner regional airlines, serves 95 cities through an expansive network in Alaska, the Lower 48, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico. Alaska Airlines has ranked “Highest in Customer Satisfaction Among Traditional Network Carriers” in the J.D. Power and Associates North America Airline Satisfaction StudySM for five consecutive years from 2008 to 2012.
