Star Cruises, “The Cruise Line in Asia-Pacific”, announces the arrival of SuperStar Gemini to Singapore to commence a brand new 7-night cruise itinerary departing weekly from Singapore. This forms part of a series of exciting itineraries which will see SuperStar Gemini call at 16 destinations across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong from this month until the end of 2006.

The itineraries are a combination of 7 and 21-night cruises to destinations such as Port Klang (Kuala Lumpur), Langkawi, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching in Malaysia, Krabi, Phuket, Ko Samui and Bangkok in Thailand, Sihanoukville in the Khmer Republic (formerly Cambodia), Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Halong Bay and Danang in Vietnam.

The new itineraries will include a number of maiden calls by SuperStar Gemini to Bangkok and Ko Samui in Thailand, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu in East Malaysia as well as Nha Trang, Danang and Halong Bay in Vietnam. It will also be the first time that a Star Cruises ship will call at Sihanoukville, capital of the Khmer Republic. Together with Phuket, Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City, this brings to 4 destinations in Indochina where SuperStar Gemini has overnight stops.

The new season will once again see SuperStar Gemini being home-ported in Singapore after an absence of 2 years since her seasonal deployment here in October 2003.

The introduction of longer itineraries have been designed to provide a cruise holiday to cater to more sophisticated cruise passengers on a ship that has proved to be very popular with the Australasian and European markets.

SuperStar Gemini departed Singapore on the first of the new season itineraries with about 500 passengers mostly from Australasia. A dance performance courtesy of the Singapore Tourism Board greeted guests embarking at the HarbourFront Centre in the afternoon. She arrived in Port Klang amidst a colourful welcome by a cultural troupe from Tourism Malaysia. Special traditional welcomes have also been planned courtesy of tourism bodies of Malaysia and Thailand and local tour agents to greet guests upon arrival in Langkawi, Krabi, Phuket and Penang.

“The active fly-cruise market into Singapore will now see an added flow of inbound tourists with the basing of a second Star Cruises ship here as we intensify our international sales and marketing efforts to promote these cruises”, said Mr.Chong Chee-Tut , Star Cruises Chief Operating Officer.

“Apart from the many itineraries on offer, cruisers now have a choice of a cruise holiday on the larger SuperStar Virgo or a more intimate destination-intensive cruise experience on SuperStar Gemini“, he added.
