A new online tool from VisitBritain

VisitBritain, the national tourism agency, in association with Tourism Together launches a new online tool for both tourism professionals and students. The updated version of the Destination Managers’ Toolkit (DMT) gathers guidelines from key industry experts and examples of best practice in the management of a destination.

The toolkit covers a wide range of subjects relevant to all destination managers from planning to development, marketing or monitoring. It is an essential reference tool for current and future members of the industry. Its flexible electronic format makes it a dynamic resource that will be updated and expanded as knowledge and practices evolve.

Lisa Ryan, VisitBritain’s Direct Sales and Marketing Manager said: "The toolkit is a great resource for tourism professionals who want to learn how to plan and perform better, ensuring they get the most out of their destination and, more importantly, keep it ahead of the competition."

The toolkit is available online by subscription to insights.org.uk. The website, which builds on the excellent reputation of the Tourism Insights journal, already holds a wealth of information introduced by key opinion formers from the tourism sector. Often the first port of call for local authority managers, regional development professionals and tourism businesses alike, this invaluable resource is updated monthly with topical content. It is also helpful for students eager to develop a successful career in tourism.

A range of flexible subscription options are available for access to Tourism Insights and the DMT together or separately. In addition to five new articles each month, subscribers receive access to hundreds of previously published articles from the Tourism Insights archive. The articles published in Tourism Insights also get printed in a quarterly journal, which is ideal for libraries, schools and universities.
