Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) has announced that it is to exhibit at the 74th UFI Congress being held in Versailles, Paris 24-26 October. ADNEC’s participation is designed to promote the emirate’s appeal to the international exhibition industry.

The event will be used to highlight the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and Capital Centre developments to an audience of industry professionals from around the world.



Commenting on ADNEC’s participation at the UFI Congress, ADNEC Managing Director, His Excellency Ahmad Humaid Al Mazrouie said: “Something very special is happening in Abu Dhabi, the emirate is the scene of some of the most spectacular developments in the world and events such at the 74th UFI Congress are a great vehicle for us to communicate this. I look forward to meeting with key industry figures from around the world face-to-face and explaining the rapid expansion of the exhibition business in Abu Dhabi.”



In a recent study, Abu Dhabi was tipped as one of the Gulf`s high fliers over the coming year for the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICry. The UAE Capital City is expected to be the region`s second top meetings industry performer over the coming 12 months, a rise of 9 places in just one year.



ADNEC recently announced that construction work has begun on both Phase 2 of the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and the surrounding Capital Centre development.



The AED580m (US$158m) Phase 2 project is scheduled for completion in October 2008, it will see ADNEC double in size to become the Middle East`s largest purpose-built exhibition centre with inter-connected exhibition floor space totalling more than 55,000sqm.



On completion in early 2011, the Capital Centre development which surrounds ADNEC will house a new micro-city of 23 towers, a 2.3km waterfront Marina Zone; a proposed monorail and the ‘Galleria’ – a shopping mall with restaurants, retail outlets, and cinemas. The most distinctive feature of the development will be the iconic 35-storey Feature Tower which will include a 200+ room five-star-plus hotel and 20,000 square metres of office and retail space.
