Alitalia’s October results show that capacity, load factors, passenger traffic and reliability are improving still further. Load factors are up by 0.2% vs October 03 and they currently stand at 70.4%.
Capacity on intercontinental routes is also on the increase mainly due to Alitalia’s optimized fleet. Figures are up by 28.8% vs October 03 thanks primarily to the opening of Milan Malpensa – Washington in April and Malpensa – Delhi in July. Furthermore, the number of passengers carried is up by 24.3% vs October 03.
Alitalia’s passenger traffic from Milan Malpensa airport (which is gearing up for the launch of Alitalia’s new thrice-weekly service to Shanghai on 2nd December) is also on the increase, with overall figures up by 8.6%. Intercontinental routes are up by 24.5% – including Malpensa – Sao Paulo (+53.6%) and Malpensa – Caracas (+23.4%) whereas North American routes keep flying high with a 18.9% uplift on Malpensa – New York and + 8.3% on Malpensa – Miami. As regards international routes, traffic is also up by 0.9% thanks to increased capacity (+2.9%).
With regards to punctuality on departure (ie within 15 minutes), Alitalia’s performance across its whole network is up by 7.2% (82% vs 74.8% in October 03) whereas punctuality on arrival has improved by 14% (80% vs 66% in Oct 03).
Finally, Alitalia’s baggage delivery performance also keeps improving across the whole network with delayed / lost baggage record standing at 1.37% in October 04 vs 2.08% in October 03.
