Although designed as a mechanism to handle the large number of cars around the Attica basin, the Attica roadway is going to be one costly road! As of April 26, 2001, all toll stations decorating the Attica roadway and leading to the newly constructed Eleftherios Venizelos airport will become operational.
According to a formal announcement, all automobile drivers will be asked to pay 200 Drs, busses will be charged with 500 Drs., while trucks and major vans will be slapped with a 800 Drs toll fee. All toll fees will be in effect until June. From June and until 2003 all traffic tariffs on the Attica roadway, will then be hiked. Automobiles using the motorway, will then bas asked to pay 350 Drs. The fees will also affect travelers who are using taxis to travel to the airport since they will be forced to pay 1,000 Drs. More on their cab fare.
