Greece can be valuable for Pakistan in the tourism field

Ambassador of Greece Mr Petros Mavroitis has said that Pakistan and Greece enjoy good bilateral relations, but underlined the need of more trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Talking to PPI here, he said the bilateral relations between Greece and Pakistan are at a very good level, but observed there is always a room for improvement in them. He pointed out that thousands of Pakistanis are working in Greece contributing to national product and income of their country of origin.

Asked to pinpoint some specific areas where potential for enhancement of bilateral relations exists, he said there is a room to strengthen cooperation in the fields of trade and investment to the mutual benefit to both the countries.

He underlined the need assigning of bilateral agreements to create the proper legal framework. Elaborating his point, Mr Petros said agreements on economic cooperation and promotion and protection of foreign investment can be signed both on bilateral as well as in the framework of the European Union in which Greece play an important roll.

The Greek ambassador said tourism is another field where the know -how and experience of Greece can be valuable for Pakistan. He said Pakistan could do a lot in this field. Taking advantage of scenic beauty and rich cultural heritage it has been blessed with. To a question, about the volume of trade between Greek and Pakistan, the Ambassador said it is very low. He said Greece had the lowest volume of exports to Pakistan among EU members countries. He said the tilt in balance of trade is in favour of Pakistan.

To a question regarding Pak- India relations, the Ambassador said Greece along with its European partners would continue to encourage Pak-India ongoing dialogue process.
