Emerging destinations with high hopes of breaking into the global meetings, incentive travel or conference market are now being invited to apply for a free Wild Card place at next year’s IMEX. To qualify, entries must be submitted by 15th November 2006.

The IMEX Wild Card Scheme allows underexposed destinations that have never previously exhibited at an international trade fair to compete for one of four free exhibition places at next year’s IMEX, which takes place April 17-19th at Messe Frankfurt. Winning destinations all exhibit together in a dedicated ‘Look to the Future’ Pavilion which is strongly promoted prior to and during the exhibition.

Winners also receive all-year round marketing support from the IMEX team plus access to 50% discounts on airfares and three night’s free accommodation during the award-winning global exhibition. Winners are also invited to the prestigious IMEX Gala Dinner which provides extensive networking opportunities.

Powerful impact

Previous winners have paid testament to the powerful impact that winning a Wild Card place has had upon their long-term profile and on their efforts to effectively target active international buyers.

Speaking about the success experienced by Libya, a 2006 Wild Card Winner, Joel Crossland of Africa Reps said, “It was nice to see a show that was organised so well and gave us the best opportunity to sell our product. We made a lot of contacts during the show and I am sure that these will lead to fruitful relationships in the future.”

IMEX Marketing and Operations Director, Carina Bauer (nee Bloom), says, “We know how difficult it can be for emerging destinations to break into the international market and we’re committed to supporting them as much as possible. The Wild Card Scheme has already proved itself a useful launch pad for several new destinations over the years, which is very satisfying for everyone involved.”
