IMEX, the worldwide exhibition for incentive travel, meetings and events, is sponsoring the first Culture Active Tool for the meetings industry. Developed by Richard Lewis Communications, the acknowledged experts on cross cultural skills, the Culture Active Tool is a web-based, stand alone cross cultural analysis and briefing tool that will be accessible on a global basis.

It has two modules:

  • Personal Cultural Profiles (PCPs) enables individual classification and characteristics by completing a cultural questionnaire online.

  • National Cultural Profiles provide cultural roadmaps to approximately 70 countries; a rich database which enable users to compare specific behaviours in one culture with those of another.

IMEX has joined with the MPI (Meeting Professionals International) Foundation, MPI Foundation Europe, MPI Foundation Canada and MCI – the foremost pan-European association, communications and events management group – to support this initiative. The tool is being launched at MPI`s 2006 Professional Education Conference Europe on 26 to 28 March in Davos, Switzerland.

Ray Bloom, Chairman of IMEX commented, Multiculturalism is a key area for the industry in this era of global communications. This initiative will enable many of those working in the business to improve their understanding and work effectively with other cultures. We are delighted to have partnered with MPI and MCI to be able to deliver such an important benefit to MPI members.

IMEX has worked with Richard Lewis Communications since 2003 as a part of its innovative New Vision campaign, intended to highlight industry trends, focus on the future and challenge conventional industry thinking. Richard Lewis and his executive team have played an active role at the exhibition as both seminar speakers and exhibitors. IMEX hosted buyers also gain access to this exclusive tool for 8 weeks leading up to and following the exhibition – helping to make their appointments with IMEX exhibitors more effective and efficient.

Charlotte St. Martin, 2005-2006 Chair of the MPI Foundation Board of Trustees commented, “It is so exciting to be able to support a forward-thinking project that advances all three objectives of MPI’s strategic plan, while embracing the international nature of our organization. This type of transcontinental partnership is the reason why the MPI Foundation, the MPI Foundation Canada and the MPI Foundation Europe were formed.”
