The 2nd World Health Tourism Congress which was hosted by the Cyprus Tourism Organization successfully concluded its works in Limassol, Cyprus. A total of 370 attendees (representing 60 countries) were welcomed and processed by the Registration Team. Opening Ceremony speeches were delivered by Mr. Antonis Michaelides, (Minister for Commerce, Industry and Tourism) and Mr Markos Kyprianou (The E.U. Commissioner for Health).
The Organizers hosted 119 Corporate Buyers (from 89 Organizations and 30 Countries – the GCC / Gulf Area, Africa, Europe, North America and Asia). Buyers came to consider the offerings of 96 Providers of Health Tourism Services, from Asia, the Middle East, South Africa, Europe and North & South America (35 Countries).
During the Congress, each Provider had up to 12 pre-scheduled, one-to-one meetings with selected Buyers (from a list provided in advance). There were 18 presentations / workshops, presented by experts with a deep knowledge and understanding of Health Tourism. These were well attended.
The overall feeling and impression, amongst the attendees, was that the Congress had achieved its objective and gave promise of a larger and even more effective one next year in Marbella.
Unlike the 1st Congress, which had no Greek providers, at this Congress, there were two (the large Euromedica Group – highlighting its new private hospital in Rhodes – and “Morphe” – the well known Aesthetic Surgery Clinics and Medical Spas).
One of the 10 “Knowledge Provision” workshops (“Executive and Vocational Training in Health Tourism”) was presented by the Congress Consultant, Dr. Constantine Constantinides of healthCare cybernetics (a healthcare sector think and do tank).
