Industry Veteran joins NBTA as Director of European Operations

The National Business Travel Association (NBTA), the world’s largest association for corporate travel professionals, is introducing a new Director of European Operations – industry veteran Ole Bo Larsen. He will begin in the NBTA position on 3 November 2008.

During his 24 years of travel industry experience Larsen has held positions within travel management, procurement, sales, service and marketing. He comes to NBTA from H. Lundbeck A/S – a Denmark-based global pharmaceutical company, where as Global Travel Manager he established a professional Travel Management department. He led the development and implementation of global solutions for the company’s travel agency, credit card travel account, and expense management services. Additionally, Larsen is currently acting Vice Chairman of the Danish Business Travel Association (DBTA), a volunteer leadership role overseeing the association’s international relations, including its membership in the Paragon Partnership, the global alliance of buyer-driven corporate travel associations. He serves DBTA through the end of October.

NBTA President & CEO, Kevin Maguire, CCTE, GLP, said, “Ole comes to NBTA with a quarter-century of industry experience and a dynamic network, which he will use to help NBTA advance our offerings to the European business travel community.”

NBTA Executive Director & COO, Bill Connors, CTC, added, “Ole will work closely with European associations in the Paragon Partnership to create world-class programming and to grow attendance for Crossroads 2009. The event was launched this year as the first-ever pan-European business travel conference. We’re looking forward to even greater success with Crossroads 2009, which will be held in May in Paris.”

Larsen is currently working toward earning the Global Leadership Professional, or GLP, professional designation. GLP is the leading master’s level program for the business travel industry, offered by the NBTA Foundation in partnership with The Wharton School of Business. Larsen has completed the coursework and earned the Certificate of Professional Development; the next step will be the one-year group study project component of the program.
