Lufthansa has cancelled more than 100 flights due to a strike by air traffic controllers at Frankfurt Airport in Germany over the next two days. The strike by German union GdF working at Frankfurt was due to run from 15.00 to 22.00 local time on Thursday followed by a further stoppage between 08.00 and 22.00 today.
Airport operator Fraport said it hoped that around two thirds of its scheduled flights will operate today as planned.
Lufthansa has cancelled some services between Heathrow and Frankfurt due to the strike.
The airline said in a statement: “Delays and flight cancellations have to be expected. Lufthansa regrets any inconvenience to Lufthansa passengers caused by the threatened strike measures by the GdF union and will do its utmost to minimise impacts on passengers.”
The industrial action has been called after the union failed to reach a deal with Fraport over wages.
