The Maris Green Team, which comprises employees and volunteers, reflects the group`s policy of active involvement in ecological conservation.
Its aim is to take part in environmental initiatives such as beach cleanup programmes and tree-plantings.
The team made its first official appearance on September 27 during World Tourism Day, when it highlighted the close relationship between tourism and the environment. Uniformed members joined in a cleanup effort on Crete.
The Candia Maris on Crete is the first hotel in Greece, the third in the Mediterranean and among 100 units internationally which possess ISO 14001 environmental management certification, while the rest of the group`s units are due to receive similar recognition in the near future.
Both the Maris group and the Maris Green Team are members of the Clean Up Greece environmental organisation.
