A change of name for the congress centre of Milan, one the most important in Italy and the most competitive in Europe in terms of costs, according to the English publication M&IT Magazine. The facility managed by Fiera Milano Congressi, a company of the Fiera Milano Spa group, changes its name “FMC Center” into Milano Convention Centre (MIC).

“This structure has brought Milan back into the narrow group of European cities able to host top international events, by playing a main role in the world market. It is not by chance that we are the only Italian centre which is a member of the prestigious European Congress Centre Partnership (ECCP) that includes the 10 largest congress centres in Europe. Milan deserved a congress centre up to its economic importance, its cultural prominence and visibility. Now – thanks also to the new halls inaugurated at the end of 2005 – the city has one. However, since the name of this centre was not immediately evocative of the “Milan factor”, particularly abroad, we have decided to change it,” says Maurizio Lupi, managing director of Fiera Milano Congressi.

“We regularly and successfully take part to all bids for the assignation of the main international congresses – underlines Giuseppe Zola, President of Fiera di Milano Congressi. We are an important reality and the pride of the city”.
