Chris Butler joined Southampton Airport as the new Managing Director. Chris replaces David Cumming, who will retire on 31 March 2006 after 38 years with BAA plc.
Chris Butler, Managing Director, Southampton Airport says, I am delighted to be joining Southampton at such an exciting time in its 95-year history. During 2006, I envisage another very busy year as the airport continues to grow in popularity.
Over the next few weeks, I am looking forward to meeting staff, customers, businesses and local community representatives. I place great emphasis on Southampton Airport being a good neighbour, and managing the impacts of our growing business.
I would like to congratulate David Cumming for helping to make Southampton Airport the success story that it is today, and I shall endeavour to build upon these achievements.
Chris joined BAA in 1978 and has since held a variety of operational and strategic management roles during this time at Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted airports. He joins Southampton Airport from Stansted, where he was Business Development Director.
Chris, aged 46, is married with three sons.
