New reservation system for Interhome

The Interhome Group – specialists in the rental of holiday homes and part of the Inghams/Hotelplan organisation – has launched a new reservation system in time for the 2008 travel year. The move is another major milestone in the group’s plans to become the industry’s European leader by the year 2010. iRent replaces Bird which has served the group for the past 27 years.

Interhome’s new iRent reservation system will link the company’s holiday home rental operations in all 21 countries where the group is active. Unlike its predecessor, iRent is a flexible and fully integrated system which can be enhanced and updated at any time. The user interface is clearly structured, the navigation is user friendly and the design is attractive. Together with the new iRent system, Interhome has re-structured its retailer website.

Simon Lehmann, Interhome Group CEO, says: “Our regular and rapid growth has necessitated a new and dynamic system solution in the reservation sector. It is our declared aim to become Europe’s leading company in the holiday home rental industry by 2010 and that requires advanced technology that’s always a step ahead of the competition. With iRent we have succeeded in developing within a remarkably short time an innovative and upgradable IT solution of the highest technical standard.”

Interhome’s iRent project team under the leadership of Thomas Buschta developed the new state-of-the-art system in record time. An initial concept was drawn up in November 2005 – only two weeks after Lehmann’s appointment as CEO.

Buschta explained: “The host solution no longer met our increasing requirements and a straight one-for-one replacement of the outdated core system was simply not an option. Within the overall framework of the iRent project we undertook a fusion of the environment systems, decided to replace the website and to incorporate direct marketing.”
