Norwegian Cruise Line announced that it has raised $250,000 for the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Fund to assist in the relief and recovery efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

The money donated was raised through various onboard and shore side initiatives and includes donations from guests across the fleet and NCL employees, which was then matched by NCL. Colin Veitch, NCL’s president and CEO, presented the donation to J.P. Miquel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross of Greater Miami & the Keys at the company’s headquarters in Miami.

Francis Riley, General Manager of NCL UK, commented: “As a company NCL has taken the disasters very seriously and not only have we helped distribute supplies in Cozumel in Mexico, which was also hit, but we have matched the generous donations of our employees and guests.”

The company worked with various vendors and the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) and delivered 26 pallets of supplies including water and food for both adults and babies.
