Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) announced a breakthrough in European air travel, by launching a unique one-way fare structure on all its European services, for both business and leisure travellers, across all three classes.

The new pricing structure means the complicated pricing rules which previously made travellers fly out and home in the same class are now a thing of the past. This new fare model is part of a continuing evolution of the SAS service, offering travellers more choice and flexibility with fewer rules, fewer restrictions and increased transparency on all fares.

SAS undertook extensive research with its passengers and recently introduced a new level of choice and service by offering three levels of fares – Economy, for the lowest fares, Economy Flex for those who need more flexibility and Business Class for passengers who regard comfort and stress free travel as their priority.

SAS is now taking this one step further, and from 1 September travellers will be able to purchase one-way fares and have the opportunity to combine cabins, allowing passengers to travel one way in Economy, and return in Business Class. SAS passengers will no longer be restricted by requirements such as a certain number of days between inbound and outbound dates, or demands of a minimum Saturday night stay.

One way fares and freedom of choice is a unique combination in European travel, says Mr. Rolf Andersson, General Manager Scandinavian Airlines System for Greece and Cyprus.

SAS now offers travellers the flexibility and freedom of choice. This is great news for leisure and business travellers alike. Anyone who travels on business knows that getting to a meeting on time is crucial, but often knowing when the meeting will end can be a bit of lottery, throwing well-arranged travel plans into chaos. SAS` new pricing structure gives travellers the opportunity to combine cheap Economy fares one way with the flexibility of Economy Flex or Business Class on the return, and eliminating the hassle from business travel, says also.

In addition, SAS is aggressively targeting European leisure travellers through its new pricing structure, and now offers a 33 per cent child discount on all its one-way fares.

The one-way fare structure will be available on all SAS operated routes except its intercontinental services. Travellers in Europe can take advantage of this unique fare structure on all SAS flights to and from Scandinavia, within Scandinavia, and SAS operated flights across Europe, implementation to/from Germany will come at a later stage.
