To meet increased national and international demand, Stockholm International Fairs is expanding the capacity of its exhibition halls. The new extension, which is expected to be ready for use by December, 2009, will further strengthen Stockholm International Fairs` position as Northern Europe`s biggest trade fair and congress centre managing director of Stockholm International Fairs Tom Beyer says.

A rough sketch of the new extension of hall A at Stockholm International Fairs. With a further 8,400 sqm at its disposal, Stockholm International Fairs will be able to offer exhibitors and congress arrangers a total exhibition area of almost 70,000 sqm. Which, according to Beyer, will be needed to fend off increasingly tough competition from abroad.

We`re making this investment to confirm our status as one of the world`s most flexible fair and conference facilities, says Beyer. At the same time, the bigger fairs are demanding more space in order to accommodate the growing number of exhibitors. We`ve also realised that we need to be able to run several fairs concurrently, and a larger, more flexible exhibition area will enable us to do so.

A demand for increased capacity is also much in evidence among the arrangers of Europe`s major congresses.

<>We also want to bolster our position as one of Europe`s most attractive congress centres. It`s important both for Stockholm and for ourselves that we retain the capacity to host Europe`s biggest congresses. We`re therefore expanding our premises to enable us to meet the increasingly stringent demands of congress arrangers for capacity and quality, concludes Beyer.

The new, extended premises are expected to be ready for inauguration in December, 2009. Among other things, the new extension will accommodate exhibition space, conference facilities, a new entrance and restaurants.
