The Grimaldi Group takes delivery of the m/v “Grande Angola”

On 27th November, at the Croatian shipyards of Uljanik, the ro/ro multipurpose vessel “Grande Angola” was officially delivered to the Grimaldi Group (Naples). Launched last May, the “Grande Angola” is the 12th ship of an order of 18 units to be built by the Uljanik shipyards for the Grimaldi Group. Within the next two years, the Croatian shipyards will deliver six more twin vessels of the “Grande Angola” class to the Group.

With a length of 214 metres, a width of 32.25 metres and a service speed of 20 knots, the “Grande Angola” is a ro/ro multipurpose vessel with a gross tonnage of 50,000 tonnes and with an ideal cargo mix of 2,000 cars and vans, 2,000 linear metres of rolling cargo and 800 Teus. The height of its main decks allows the loading of heavy and out of gauge rolling equipment such as trucks, tractors, double-deck buses, big earthmoving equipment, etc. Its sophisticated system of internal ramps, fixed and hoistable, makes it a very flexible vessel, optimising the loading and unloading of any type of cargo. Its quarter stern ramp allows the loading of cargo units with a weight of up to 250 tonnes while its two cranes on the weather deck are able to lift
units (containers and general cargo) with a weight of up to 40 tonnes.

The “Grande Angola” has been deployed on the Southern Express service regularly linking North Europe to West Africa. The ports served are Amsterdam, Hamburg, Tilbury, Antwerp, Le Havre, Lisbon, Dakar, Luanda, Douala, Takoradi and Abidjan.
