The Travel Institute’s Certified Travel Associate (CTA) program now includes new benefits, flexibility, and relevance. Launched in 1997, CTA is geared to front-line travel professionals with at least 18 months of industry experience. To date more than 6,000 travel professionals have earned the designation.

Highlights of the changes to the CTA program include the fact that The Travel Institute’s popular Lifestyle Specialist (LS) courses are now electives along with the Destination Specialist (DS) courses. Candidates are also now eligible to earn three designations for the price of one as the DS and LS test fees are now included. Along with these changes is a newly revised and updated test question bank.

The CTA program also now allows candidates to choose the enrollment option that best reflects their knowledge, experience, and budget. In addition to being able to enroll in the complete CTA course (eight core courses, four electives, and test), candidates can now earn their CTA through testing only, in addition to being able to purchase a selection of individual modules.

Maureen Kennedy, The Travel Institute’s executive vice president and general manager, explains that “the CTA and CTC certification programs are constantly evaluated to reflect emerging industry trends and topics. We are excited to now offer flexible enrollment options allowing candidates to customize the program to meet their individual needs. These changes are a direct result of member feedback and internal review.”

The CTA program allows professionals to earn an industry recognized credential while learning how to close more sales, communicate effectively, acquire and use practical destination geography, fine-tune customer service skills, and provide quality value-added service to clients. The program allows for self-study, group-study, or can be completed at an Institute approved licensed school.
