On 30th March 2002 the Belgian low fare airline started daily flights to Lisbon. These flights have proved so successful a second frequency will be added on Mondays and Wednesdays. Whereas last Winter Faro flights were only twice a week, from the end of this month Virgin Express will connect Brussels with Southern Portugal three times a week (on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays).
Last Winter season Malaga was served by Virgin Express only five times a week. Thanks to the continuous growth of this route, Virgin Express will step up the flight rate from the end of this month to two daily flights to sunny Andalusia (except on Mondays and Wednesdays when only one rotation will be flown). Frequencies will be increased during the holiday periods to satisfy peak demand.
The daily flights between Brussels and Athens have been retimed to allow better connections for passengers from Scandinavia.
Finally, from 14th December an extra weekend flight on the Geneva route has been loaded in the reservation systems to satisfy demand from skiers.
In addition, Virgin Express will continue to operate out of Brussels
- 5 daily flights to Barcelona, Copenhagen, Rome and Madrid
- 4 daily flights to Stockholm
- 3 daily flights to Gothenburg and Nice
- and 2 daily flights to Milan-Linate.
>From 27th October 2002 Virgin Express will no longer be present on the Brussels-Heathrow route, because it can no longer make use of the slots, which SN Brussels Airlines swapped with British Airways.
